Within the Rhodes University Department of Psychology, all staff members carry out research as part of their everyday work. For individual research projects and publications look at individual profiles under Staff.

Training in research is part of all courses in Psychlogy, and becomes especially important in Postgraduate courses. Research consultan cy is offered by some staff members individually and by Centre for Applied Social Research and Action (CASRA).

The Centre for Applied Social Research and Action(CASRA) is a research institute affiliated with Rhodes University and based in the Psychology Department at Rhodes University.

It aims to build bridges between the academic community and other organizations (such as business, NGO's and government departments), through the provision of appropriate and useful research, primarily Action Research.

While CASRA's primary modality of research is Action Research, the organization is capable of offering a wide range of research projects, from organizational development to monitoring & evaluation, to participatory research. We specialise in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including interviewing, focus groups, and survey research.

CASRA also offers certificate courses in partnership with Rhodes University. Participants completing one of our certificate courses will receive an official Rhodes University certificate positioned at the appropriate NQF level.

CASRA is currently offering a new course in Monitoring and Evaluation. The course is currently scheduled to begin in November this year.
